Fine wine begins with quality grapes.

Owned by Brenda and Tom McGowan and located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, York Hill Vineyard is a part of the Columbia Gorge AVA. We always strive to provide the highest quality grapes and we are proud to be a partner with Freetime Wine, located in Hood River, Oregon.

Our vineyard was planted in 2008 with Pinot Noir 667 clones, and cloned to Rootstocks 101-14 and 3309. These rootstocks are the most common rootstocks planted in Oregon primarily because they:

  • Have shorter ripening and hardening off cycle

  • Have  low vigor and high fruit set

  • Are good at nutrient uptakes, especially Potassium which can be low in volcanic soils

  • Are the most drought tolerant (3309)
